FPF can reveal that Aleksandar Prijović is close to joining Polish Ekstraklasa giants Legia Warszawa on a season-long loan deal.

The Serbian international was a cult hero during his previous stint in the Polish capital from 2015 to 2017. He was a part of the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League squad and won the Polish Ekstraklasa and Polish Cup that same season.

The striker had a fantastic 2021/22 season for Western United. He scored 13 goals and assisted a further six in 27 games, helping John Aloisi's side win their first trophy in club history.

However, despite success in Australia, Prijović is reportedly unhappy in Melbourne and wants to move away from the A-Leagues.

Sources in Poland have said that a move back to Legia is imminent, with the club searching for a striker.

A deal has been 'put on the table' and is awaiting Prijović's signature. But Western are yet to agree on letting Prijović leave the club.

Ligue 1 side Clermont Foot 63 are expected to announce the signing of Legia and Poland international defender Mateusz Wieteska next week. It is believed that Legia will then use the available funds from this transfer to bring Prijović back to Łazienkowska 3.
